Warning: Aftermarket oil pan paint

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up incase you didn't already know. If you ever buy a aftermarket oil pan from like autozone or local parts store, make sure you remove all the paint that is on the inside of the pan.
This stuff is not durable and it will start to come off and get in your engine.

They come with paint overspray on the inside. You have to clean them first before installing them.

There's a difference between over spray and a full on coat of paint. It's pretty much a given that the paint will wear off because of the oil splashing around in a rapid manner. Sort of like how rocks become smooth after being in a river or creek for an extended period of time.

When it "wears" off, where do you think it goes ? Crammed in the nooks and crannies of your bearings/journals/filter/etc. You don't want it there, so why chance it.

it comes completely painted on the inside. so you must get it all off before you use it or else it will come off. The OEM pans coating is fine as it is quality and doesnt come off, but the aftermarket pans will.

Another vote on using aircraft remover though it's a bit messy to use.

I just cleaned mine with engine decreased then acetone then water.
