As already stated in like a million other topics, I hate replacing broken things with stock parts. So does anyone know of a cheap(er) aftermarket oil pan for the 6 bolt? All I could find was the Moroso (sp?) that RRE sells for like $550. My gasket is leaking like crazy and the stock pan is dented up pretty good so I don't want to reuse it. As a slightly better and much cheaper option, will my 7 bolt pan fit? If I do have to go with a stock one, does anyone know what they go for?

And as a side question. I believe the sending unit is leaking also. Is there any use for it other than the idiot light and stock gauge? If there isn't I'll just ditch it and put a sender for a real gauge in its place.

As far as the oil pan goes I would just either reuse your stock 6 bolt pan or get a new one from a parts store. I know we could get them at NAPA for like $70.00. A lot better than $550 for an aftermarket one that you don't need. Oiling has never really been an issue with our cars. The stock design is great. Deep pan and having the pickup completely submerged. As far as the sending unit, I replaced mine with an aftermarket one and it was just fine. Won't get a light or anything just the gauge won't read. Sorry and in answer to your question no they aren't switchable. That is how you tell a 6 bolt from a 7 bolt. They shape of the pan.

Thanks for the help. I can get dealer parts for cost at work, so I'll see what an OEM pan will run me. This one is definately toasted, it must have a pin hole in it because the car hasn't been driven or even started since yesterday and the cardboard is still catching fresh oil.

Does mitsu have a premade gasket or am I stuck using that RTV crap?

What brand oil pressure gauge do you use, or are all the sending units a standard size and thread pitch?

I use Greddy gauge's with sending unit's. As far as gasket goes, I would go to either Napa or a parts store and order a pan gasket and use a little bit of silicoln to hold the gasket to the pan and gasket to the block. This will reduce the chance of you getting RTV into the oilpan and having it plug your oil pickup tube.
