So, I am slowly taking care of all the issues with my GSX. I have a few questions about my next little projects:

1) The drivers side CV joint is in bad shape, though its not clicking or anything yet. I have an idea of how to replace the axle, but could someone tell me how to do it without dropping the exhaust. I read that you can just slide it out of the tranny when you get the other end out of the wheel. Does this sound right? and will the new shaft slide back into place without taking the tranny/parts of the tranny apart? A detailed walk-through would be ideal.

2) The oil pan has one or two small leaks around the gasket, and I was curious as to what is the best way to seal the oil pan WITHOUT dropping it. I have limited space to work under my car, so dropping stuff wont fly. Is there a sealant or a strong adhesive tape that is suitable for sealing up an oil pan from the outside?

Pick up a chilton book for the cv shaft that will be the best way to do it. as for the pan drain the oil, brakeklen the shit out of the hole in the pan then that some wire mesh and jb weld and gheto fab away, but please replace the pan, much better idea:thumb:

The axle is held in by a circlip. Remove it from the hub, and sometimes it'll pull right out. If not, a light prying usually removes it. If it still stuck, give it a sharp "pop" to get it out. The new one just pushes right in.

I recommend having a new axle seal on hand before you pull the axle as they tear sometimes when you pop the axle out and there is nothing worse than having to hold off on putting things back together until you can find a part.

More on the leaky oil pan gasket, I was hoping to find a tape of sorts, maybe an adhesive strip that can put up with the drastic temp changes of an engine. Is there a strip that I can apply to the seam of the oil pan and block that will solve this particular issue, or am I better off finding a glue type sealer and using that on the pan? Im looking for the longest term solution to an oil pan leak without dropping the pan; or without dropping the pan until I have the means to repair the gasket properly.

the best way to fix the pan is to replace the gasket its only a couple bucks! and as for the axle you just pull the wheel off, then theres a couple bolts and a axle nut its easy also but pick up a chiltons it will tell you all you need
