Walbro 190 vs. 255

Anybody ever try "porting" a stock FPR? Like making whatever portion get's over run bigger? Likely a dumb idea, but I've seen stock FPRs turned into AFPR, but that wouldn't even help if it can't flow enough...

If AMS says you don't need it I would go with their advice. Heck after all they are in the business of selling parts so if anyone would air on the side of caution it would be them.

But I have seen a single walbro 255hp and stock fuel lines go beyond 500whp.
I didn't say 500 was any kind of limit. I would start to consider a new pump option though once I got much past that point. I wouldn't want to be pushing over 580awhp before I began tuning, if I ran a 255. I put the key words in bold from my previous post:
500 hp is getting fairly close to the fuel flow limit for a 255. If you go very much over 500 hp you'd need 2 pumps or something a little bit bigger than the 255 to safely tune.

I just want to know why some have and others havn't. If we can figure it out once and for all, then we'd save over 100 bones per DSMer:thumb: .
I'd like to know how this works as well. -You guys using a 255 without an AFPR, have you done any other mods to the fuel system? Like rewiring, replacing feed line with larger dia. hose, etc. ?

First, it's error not air. Second, I'm going to have to say that's not what anyone at AMS really meant or even what they really said. Someone from AMS should get in here and set the record straight.

I wouldnt give AMS as much credit. They DO know alot of stuff and they DO know stuff about engine theory and they way things work but I would trust the manufacturer and/or FP because they are a pretty big distributor of pumps and AFPR's. And im happy to see that people arent BASHING a 190. Thank god.

I ran the 255 in my 2g for a couple years with a stock FPR. Never had any problems, car ran great.
