Stock converters are not known to couple very effectively on the top end.

No kidding! Last weekend qualifying at IFO I went [email protected] on much smaller turbo (FP3052) and less boost (only 25psi :D ) with a Sinister Speed 8" core 2 converter. With a poor DA too: 85 degree weather and 3100ft elevation.

Comparing my setup to the OP:
Sinister converter
No nitrous (on this 10.8 pass anyway)
Tired 2.0L 9.0to1 motor (145psi compression)
2950 curb weight (3150 with me in it)
Launching at 10psi boost and 4200rpm!!
1.60 sixty foot (need to add timing)
E-85, JMF drag intake, BC 280 cams

I used the TCI site and calculated 5.8% slippage trapping 127.84mph at 7600rpms in 3rd gear on 26" tires. 5.8% is VERY good considering I can launch at nearly 4500rpm! Mike over as Sinister Speed has really upped his game :thumb:

Congrats on the times and all those wins! Looking forward to more from your car!

Trap speeds are in line with stock torque convertor and low profile tires.
As far as going to fouth gear and reliability, I have yet to see one fail.
I do it because my RPMs would go through the roof if I didnt

This same car and same transmission ran 19 weeks straight at Atlanta Motor Speedway this summer ,clinching the Friday Night Drag Series Championship in tuner class with 7 wins.. 70% of the heats were back to back and hotlapped.
Friday Night Drags | Events/Tickets | Atlanta Motor Speedway look at results.

Plus we ran 6 qualifiers this past weekend at Import Showdown -winning the tuner class as well.
Not sure where or who is burning up fourth and breaking end clutch shafts ..we havent yet.

Torque Convertor was restalled by Transmission Parts Unlimited. They do alot of mod convertors for racers in our area.
They Cut mine open , checked it out good, and restalled to 3100 for $125 bucks.

Congrat. Very nice driving. TPU did my 1g old converter but I only got up to 2000rpm. I been wanting to bring it back to get it restalled.

Nice times for sure. I been on the fence about a bigger turbo, was considering a 3076 but, heck, if you can spool up the black, don't see why I wouldn't be able to. If you don't mind sharing, what did you do to be able to get that much boost in just 8 secs on the stock convertor and turbo as big at that?

He's running the 2.3L stroker. That makes a huge different over the 2.0L.

As some of you may know we recently switched to the FP Ball bearing Black after running the 68HTA on our Auto car, We won our local Import showdown Event in the Street Tuner class last weekend. New best Et 10.52 @ 125! (see profile for slip) car ran in the 10.50s-10.60s all day Saturday with a best 60' of 1.601, Car still has street tires and all of these passes were made WITHOUT nitrous to spool up.

Stock converter
35psi
Weight 2750 no driver still has full front interior.

On a better note this car is daily drivable LOL! There is much left in the car, we cant wait to get some slicks and run some 9s!

Here's a 10.55 pass video!
