Man this thread is killing me. I have a rewired 255 and it is quiet as a mouse. I CAN'T hear it even with the backseats out and me sitting behind the passenger seat!! This is driving me insane, so much that the next time I'm free I'm pulling the damn pump out just to verify that I even have a walbro

Why don't you turn the ignition on and turn the fuel pump on via dsmlink and see how loud it is. That is when mine is loudest. When driving sometimes I here it sometimes I don't.

I was just gonna ask if you can at least hear it prime when you turn the key to on Tom?

oh yea definitely, when i force the pump on it's super loud. I think i'm going insane.

Mine has noticeable whine, specially when the tank is below half. It is annoying when my turn signal is on, the loud whine syncronized with lit blinker. My pump needs to be re-wired for sure, I just haven't had a time to do it.

HA, my rewired hp 255lph is louder than any ive heard so far.

Put ya volume up some and listen as I walk near the back of the car
you can hear it over the open DP exhaust. Louder in person.

Mine is temperamental as well. Once it started to get warm out this year, mine was whining like crazy. I could hear it from across a 4 row parking lot over my exhaust! It seems to have calmed down recently, but it definitely is loud (although it doesn't really faze me anymore).

i am running an open dp on my mirage and inside the car you can hear my 255 whine not as loud as the first gen in the video. it also depends alot on the amount of fuel in the tank

255 HP here - everyone who rides in my car asks: "whats that noise??" when I stop at a light. Can't hear it over the exhaust at speed though. It doesn't help that the pitch changes with the blinker on and off (I need a rewire) and I don't have a backseat or sound deadening.

Mine is only loud when the car is off... turned on via dsmlink.. otherwise i can't hear it when the car is running.

I have a 25 was not really that loud with sound deadening.

Then i striped the sound deadening out of the back.

Geez its loud now.

My 255 rewired gets really loud when I turn the CD player on but when I turn it off it quiets up. Everyone that gets in my car says you need a new fuel pump.

My 255 intank whines like 2 cats in a fight. I've got a brand new 255HP sitting on my desk waiting to go in this week. I'll report back if it's as loud or what compared to the prior one.

i just got my car running this week and it has a 255 and is silent, even with less than 1/16 of a tank in there. i think it has a rewire though, which im sure helps keep the pump happy at a stop.

My pump is rewired and even with a full tank it still screams....
But it is like 5 years old, previous owner of the car put it in like 5 years ago, so that might be my problem; but since its not leaning out or affecting fuel delievery I dont consider it an issue...
But oh well im used to it now anyways, I dont really hear it anymore its just apart of the driving experience of this car; im too busy paying attention to other things anyways. .

Finally installed my Walbro 255. It's faint. I can hear it at idle but as soon as I start going, the exhaust overwhelms the noise. I have a full interior, rewired fuel pump. Also I have no gas in my tank. The gaslight came on as I was testing it out. For the record, I believe I have a genuine Walbro. It sounds like the first one tested in this video.

I don't quite remember what stock sounded like, so I chose the slightly louder than stock option, but my 255 isn't all that loud. I even had no back seat and it re-wired, but it's not noticeable and no one who's ever ridden in the car has asked about it.

Mine was pretty quiet and got about 30% louder I'd say over time.

My 255 only gets Real loud when its 100+ degreess out side, other wise you have to listen for it...

i just installed a 255hp and its quite i have a 190 on my 95 gsx and that one screams so i gues maybe these new 255hp models are not loud like the older ones
