Yes it is in the alternator! The plug that goes into your alternator is your voltage regulator! I've just had mine changed out after it went funny on me! Is yours playing up or something?

I have an alternator from my old 1G brand new... How would I hook it up being that the 2G alternator has 4 wires and the 1G 2.... What I'm think, correct me if I'm wrong, The two wires in the middle of the 2G ALT harness would be the wires to hook up to the 1G ALT...
