Vibrating???

So i want to know , if a straight pipe on a eclipse cause it to vibrate?

yeah cause i bought an eclipse gst and it has a straiht pipe all the way to the muffler. and wanted to know if that would make the car vibrate

i have a 1g with a 1 pc straight 4" exhaust, no muffler, 3" downpipe is also connected to the 4" pipe and it is one solid piece. It has welded on exhaust hangers and yes it vibrates, especially at idle.

You might get a little droning or revirb into the body of the car. With a muffler, it shouldn't be too bad. My buddy had a straight through, no cat or resonator exhaust to an N1 muffler, and it wasn't bad.

yeah on the highway it feels ok, but in city it feels like the whole bottom part of car is vibrating.. maybe its not on right but idk.

Having an exhaust shouldnt make your car feel like the whole bottom of your car is vibrating. Check all of your lug nuts to make sure they are all tight. Let us know what it was.

well the tranny mount is said to be broken. would that make it shake?

Its possible. I think if it was your tranny mounts then you would feel the vibrate more at faster speeds. Do you find it shakes or vibrates more when you slow down like approaching a light or stop sign?

yeah i think its whn it starts up too

It is possible that is your drive shaft carrier bearing or that it is just your u joints that have worn out. Here are links to replacing them Thump Fix Carrier Bearing and Drive Shaft Rebuild. You can check your u joints by gettin a large prybar and prying on them and checking for play.

I couldnt tell you how much it costs for the ujoints, but to do the driveshaft carrier bearing it would be about $5-10 if you already have a chaulking gun and do the work your self.

well i just got my car back and it doesnt vibrate as much. maybe it was the tranny that was loose..
