so my car will just crank and crank for different amounts of time. the car will start but i takes awhile and not no 3 to 5 seconds its like 10 to 15 seconds before it will turn over what could cause this? it has new coils plugs and wires and i cleaned the tb and mas. its a 93 tsi awd

When it does start up does it smoke black a little and does it run good then? If it does smoke black some it may be loading up causing a rich condition at first. Does it only do it on a cold start or every time you try to start it?

after it starts it runs great it did have an idle problem when coming to stops but i adjusted the idle screw. but it started hard before i adjusted it to. and the fuel pressure drops straight down after turning it off

Go shoot some starter fluid in the intake mani. If it catches immediately, it's fuel related. If not, then ignition related.

Fuel has been mentioned before.

Ignition is a new area to look at - from the basic setup up to a flaky ECU.

Let's get back to the basics - where we find tonnage of our problems.

Good luck all ! - DSM

well ill have to try that when i get done putting my 16g in. i have to wait for the oil lines from extreme and my exhaust manifold. it has a new coil wires and plugs. the guy that i bought it off of said it has a new refurbished ecu. the idle was all messed up, and it would drop to normal after you tap the gas pedal quick. but now that i adjusted the idle screw its fine. im just working on the start

You still havent really said if it cranks slow. That is important. If so, i would check grounds and where your 12v is tapped for the starter. Make sure both are nice and corrosion free. If its turning over fine and you have fuel pressure (around 43lbs or 38lbs for 1gs), then check your compression. Also, crank it for 5 seconds and have someone do the 'ol sniff test. Smell the exhaust while your cranking. I can tell easily if somethings running rich. Or crank it for 5, then pull a plug and see if its wet. These things can help us help you, ya know? Good luck with the problem and keep us updated.
