I have No idea whats going on with my car. After getting the stuttering problem fixed by replacing the plug wires, all seemed well for a little while. I set the boost at 15psi, did a few pulls, and all seemed fine.
Tonight A friend of mine and I decided to drive down to a tattoo shop in boulder, and thats when the problem started. About half way there (on highway 36) It blew off the recirculation pipe from the RFL to the Intake pipe. At first we just noticed the performance went way down, but then I realized I could hear the BOV, so I figured thats what it was. We were almost to our exit, so we continued on.
At the first stop light we got stopped at, it died immediately and wouldnt even try to turn over, it would just click. We push started it and got it into a parking lot. I duct taped the crap out of the recirculation pipe end (it blew off at the BOV side) as I dont have any tools in the car. Once again, it just clicked and we had to push it. Fixing this massive unmitered air intake did nothing to help the car or hinder the bucking it was doing.
I got it to a gas station, and it died immediately when I let off the gas. I tried to start it again, and it didnt do a thing. Not even a click. At this point its really starting to frustrate me as I just replaced the battery monday.
I called a friend who lives in the area, and had him come try to jump it. It would start, rev to 1k, and then die. Pressing the gas would make it die quicker.
At this point I was out of options so I called AAA to get a tow home. They said it was an estimated time of 60 minutes. 90 minutes passed, no truck. I called them back, and they said it would be another twenty minutes. 45 minutes pass, so I called back again. This time they said it would be 1-2 more hours. Now im starting to get pissed. I called again 90 minutes later, and they say 3 more hours. Im not waiting that long.
I called my dad to come pick us up, and to bring my old wire set just in case something was up with the new ones. So he finally shows up and I change those. No help. Then my dad told me he thought I fried the ECU and just the start injectors were working (or something like that, I wasnt really paying attention). But it got me thinking.
I unplugged the SAFC and it started right up. Needless to say it was running very poorly and throwing a cel due to having no MAF signal, but it ran and it was a way to get it home. This is when the real problems started.
About 1/2 way home it started losing all electrical power slowly. The guage lights started dimming, as did the headlights. soon after, they were out completely, and the hazards wouldnt work unless the headlights were off. And the longer we drove, the worse it got.
it also started backfiring very badly, and every backfire the ECU would make a loud clicking sound.
By the time we got close enough to my house to make pulling it with a tow strap practical, nothing worked but the flashers. No windows, no seatbelts, nothing. One thing odd is that the radio display lights were now flashing with the hazards. When the brake was pressed, it would stop the hazards and radio from blinking.
Does anyone know what this could be? Im sorry if its a bad description, its really hard to explain. if anyone could offer any advice or even stop by and check it out, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Justin
