1G Variations of 6 bolt oil squirters

I recently pulled my oil pan on my 2g piston 1g rod motor to find a broken squirter nozzle at the bottom. Motor was assembled 20 years ago before there was much info on 2g pistons possibly hitting them. Fortunately it's only 1 of them but I suspect I've spent the past 2 decades driving with it busted.

I just ordered a replacement and the body on the new one is much thicker. It has about the same thickness as mine do WITH both washers installed. I have seen different threads showing both thicknesses and referring to all as 1g 6 bolt squirters. To verify I pulled one from my original 1990 block and it matches my broken one. I'm including pictures for comparison. Was there a change between years of 6 bolt motors? Did they start manufacturing thicker replacements that are meant to be installed without the crush washers?

There was a 1G 7-bolt oil squirter that was similar to the 1G 6-bolt squirter. I never had one in my possession so I can't say what, specifically, the differences are between the two.
