when i start my car the motor ticks but once it gets running it becomes very faint and goes away i have been told its an exhaust leak but i know it wouldnt go away and if it a valve how hard are they to install? or should i let a professional do it. thanks

1Gs are prone to having lifter tick. This could be your problem, not saying it is. Go to the search button and search"seafoam", you add this in with the oil and run the car then change the oil. This would be cheaper then pulling the head off, and having a shop do a diagnostic test on what it could be. So use the seafoam, and after you change tyour oil see if the ticking noise is gone.
Hope that helps, and keep us updated,

Dustin

chances are you need head work done that head has prlly never had and work done on it sense it came from the factory if i were you i would take it off and get a vaulve job on it maybee new guides and seals your guide seals are most likely hard and worn and need replaced and seafoam isnt going to fix your prob if you do have a leaky vaulve that thing may not be seating on the vaulve seats or you could have a shit ton of carbon built up on the back side of the vaulve if you have the money just get the head work you will be alot happier with it trust me i see this stuff all day at work if you have the money just get it done
