My mistake. Sorry. I didn't see that this was for a 420A engine. For some reason I was thinking 6 bolt 4g63.
Desrigard the timing light. Unless the 420a has a CAS and its adjustable.
OK. Its not cam bearings. Its cam journals. But when your cam journals sit on the head (half circle bearing) and you re-install the cam cap (the other half circle bearing) it WILL form a complete bearing around the cam. So now you have a bearing on your cam.
Check your cam manufactures for Proper braking in procedures. But it is wise and logical to use new oil when breaking in a cam or any moving part in an engine that involves metal to metal contact, unless you are sure that your oil is fairy new and clean.

Worked on the test engine this afternoon. Valve cover was absolutely nothing. all those bolts holding the gold brackets around the cams was a piece of cake. this job is going to be too simple. the only difficulty at all is...

1: taking the cam gears off with what little room there is to work with inside the car.
2: the valve springs are right freaking there sticking out under the cams. this part is going to be relatively easy too. just very time consuming.
