Surprised I didn't find any discussion on this. I'm replacing all the 30 year old vacuum lines, many of which show deterioration and cracking. The old spring hose clamps seem suspect from a fatigue point of view, not to mention the heavy rust affecting strength. And it seems foolish to assume the ID of the old clamp is the same as when it was new. So what is the correct size spring clamp? If you have a hose with say 10mm OD, what should be the relaxed ID of the clamp? And when you order the clamp, is the specified size of the clamp the relaxed size, or the hose size it fits? I haven't seen any instruction on this on hose websites or clamp websites. Does everyone just go with "Whatever fits"?

I'm also surprised that the hoses that sense boost pressure are spring clamps as well. At what level of boost should they be a worm gear type clamp, if ever?
