Using stock boost gauge to detect knock

I have been told by a couple guys I can wire my knock sensor to my stock boost gauge to detect knock.. I have a standalone Wolf v4 3d ecu which is an older unit and does not have a parameter to detect knock.. I plan on changing my ecu to ecmlink full after I work out all the bugs, But would like to get a decent tune on the car as it sits.. Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

You cannot just wire the gauge directly to the knock sensor. If you are using an ecu that detects knock(like the stocker with dsmlink, or a custom chip) you can set parameters to display knock on the stock gauge.

The ecu I'm using does not have a parameter for knock detection.. Thats the only reason I am trying to figure this route out...

If I were you I'd just install a stock ecu, injectors, and maf, until you acquire a better tuning solution.

I plan on switching to ecmlink full but I will have to change the whole harness due to the guy hacking it installing this standalone... Thanks for the info... My car is far from stock and I believe would only set me back going back to maf... It is tunable just doesnt have a system for knock..

If I'm not mistaken the wolf ecu doesn't even use an intake air temp sensor for its speed density algorithm.

Also, unless you know the dwell times for the stock ignition, the timing figures you input into it are useless, and you can detonate the pistons apart even at part throttle without knock retard.

The only way that system is going to be close to reliable is to have it tuned on a load bearing Dyno, with det cans.
