Is there anyway for me to splice into the wire that goes into the Stock Temp Sensor, and run a wire up to my aftermarket temp gauge? This will save me the trouble of tapping somewhere, or buying a rad hose piece..

The stock temp gauge works, but i would like to use the aftermarket one because it shows numbers and how hot or cold my motor is..

Thanks guys

1) You can't have both gauges on the same sensor because that changes the resistance and current of the circuit which will give false readings.

2) Each manufacturer meter has it's own matched sensor (different resistance at same temperature). So mixing them would then give inaccurate reading.

Old thread new question.

Unscrewing the old sender unit from the waterneck and replacing it with my soon prosport water temp gauge sender should give the correct readings then right?

Also from searches I've seen that tapping into the waterneck itself is a popular recommendation. Why?

Also from searches. The upper 2g rad hose is 33mm inner diameter but most vendors and sellers have either 32mm or 34mm adapters. Would using a smaller adapter have bad effects on the flow of coolant/water throughout your cooling system?

I just went with the size just a bit bigger. You might get a very small leakage around the smaller unit. The bigger one is a tighter fit, not by much, and wont leak. I'm using the prosport setup and it works fantastic :thumb:

I would just install the new sensor where the stock one is. Do you need two water temp gauges???

The water temp gauge that comes with our cars, only shows high and low just like our boost and oil pressure gauges. With aftermarket gauges giving you a more absolute readout I can know the actual temperature. Along with actual boost psi and oil pressure.

I'm going to attempt to use the stock location first then if that doesnt work I'll have the 34mm housing rush as a backup.

same question here i dont wanna tap new threads for my gauge maybe diconect the original gauge wire and hood aftermarket gauge to it but then check engine light will probly flash
