boost gauge converted to knock

So i bought my 91 talon tsi and the guy told me he coverted the boost gauge to a knock. And i noticed it was running at the 10psi marker. So i was curious and turned the boost down to 5psi and it went down to 5. Was he lying or am i reading it wrong?

are you talking about the factory boost gauge? or a after market one.

The stock boost gauge is the one that can be converted to knock sum.
