I have a pair of Koni yellow shocks that go on the rear of a fwd 1g but want to use them on my awd 1g. From what i can see, the rubber bushing on the bottom of the shock that fits into the subframe is a different diameter between the fwd and awd cars. I was wondering if I can just press out this rubber bushing on the bottom of the shocks and then put in a bushing and sleeve that fits an awd.

Will this work or are there more differences between the fwd and awd Koni yellows?

The shocks will be mated to the Ground Control springs.

So there's no workaround or way to compensate for the shorter length shock? Simple answer is just no if you're working with hand tools out of your garage?

Edit: just found a comparison photo from a shock tutorial on a local DSM site. From the photo, it doesn't look like any workaround would exist without a lot of modifications.

Kind of a bummer as now I have no shock to put in the rear of my car (had to use a torch to get the old OE shocks off).

Thanks for the quick replies!

So getting a hold of Koni rears is going to be an exercise in patience. However, I'd really like to get the car back on the road this week.

I've narrowed it down to a pair of Bilstein shocks or a pair of KYB AGX shocks in the rear. Pricing is about the same and so is the marketing provided by the manufacturers. And when I search for opinions online, I find nothing but opinions. It's hard to glean any information that pertains to this car and my setup.
It seems the Bilstein are geared more for longevity and more stock performance, whereas the AGXs trade life expectancy for performance. Accurate?

Whatever shocks I choose will be mated to the Ground Control/Eibach springs and the car will be used as a DD, a couple dozen trips to the drag strip, and the occasional autoX. So does anybody have any quick advice?
