I'm about to swap my fully built 6 bolt into a 96. I currently have v3 running in the 1g ecu. I really don't want to spend that money to eprom and socket the 96 ecu. Can I run on the ecu from the 91 in the 96. I've searched for this and I get mixed answers. Thanks for the help.

Someone else will give you a definite answer but I would think as long as you don't have an auto it would be ok. I know that the ckp and baro sensors won't be used. But the 1g ecu won't be looking for those anyway, but the wiring harness and connectors are a different story. I will have to double check but you may have to swap a couple of pins in the ecu harness. I thought it was only 95-96 that had to swap a couple of wires for the firing order. I'll take a look for you, think I remember the thread.

Awesome thanks man. That's what I thought about the firing order but baas not sure. In just not down to spend over 600 when I can just use my 1g.

Leave the COP wired as it would be for a 1g. Take your coil input plug (triangle shaped plug with 3 wires, 2 blue and one black). Harness side, not COP side! Cut, swap position of, and solder the two blue wires, this will invert your spark signal. Leave black untouched. Plug in and run

Does this sound about right?

Don't forget about your diy, mentality. Take things slow, try to look ahead to any unforseen problems and go slow and methodical and scientific and you'll be golden. Just remember where there is a will there IS a way, you might have to think way outside the box but that's where love of what your doing will lead to new awesome ideas. If no-one will help you with it , I will be happy to do my best.

Very well said, awesome. Yes that's what I like about these projects. I have my talon perfect but I want the 2g now LOL. So I'm going to swap everything over. I can figure out the wire harness but the ecu I can't find information between the 91 and 96 ecu differences. I just know the CAS and ignition coil is a different setup. I have the maf figured out.

Just picked up the 2g that has a 6bolt swap in it. I still want to use the 1g ecu but no straight answers yet any help works.

You'll have to do something like this: My custom 1g ecu in a 2g patch harness.

There's a lot of good information around if you search for "patch harness" and don't limit yourself to reading threads like above that are titled exactly like what you are after; the "2G ECU in 1G cars" threads hold information just as important.
