Just got my used to be mint cond. 90 laser turbo back from a trade i made about 6 months ago for a jeep:ohdamn:...brfore the trade it had 95k miles and i had a 3"exaust put on along with a boost controller(13psi)and a walbro 255 fuel pump...the guy i traded put a crushed bov on and turned it up to 18psi ran the crap out of it and then wanted to trade back...soo now around 10psi it cuts out bad like a boost leak, ive checked all the hoses and cant find anything havnt done a leak down on it yet but the turbo is good no shaft play side/out...also the other morning went started it and it ran like crap slow throttle reponse acted like it wanted to die till it was warmed up so that lead me to beleive fuel problem? the idle is up and down all the time too??where should i start?...injectors? fuel pump? bov?????

I would try the leak down test. It sounds like he was haveing a ball with the car and could of easily worked a leak in somewhere. I'm sure you could get a stock BOV for a decent price too.

if its a boost leak its gonna have to be a major one its almost like fuel cut the way it sputters and backfires...

Well it may take till 10psi for the leak to be apparent.

I would test the BOV to see if it will hold boost.

gonna check the plugs tomorrow...and in in the market for a stock bov...thanks everyone...keep the advice coming...ill update tomorrow

also did a boost leak test found one where the boost gage was tied in at...also heard another one somwhere around the turbo/manifold area couldnt find it though???gasket maybe??

dang i wouldnt trade back if he ruined it like that, but do a real good tune up check everything then go for there dont spend money you dont need to. thats what i always say

I have a factory BOV from a 1991 Talon TSI turbo if itll work for you ill make it real cheap its just sitting the back of my car.

Definitely check the plugs for color and pitting on the electrode. Sounds like a boost leak as you said. If it still has the stock UICP and LICP, check those real well. I've had them leak some kind of bad before.
