Hello, My name is David, I'm new to DSM Tuners. I recently purchased a 1990 laser turbo RS which sat for ten years inside of neighbors garage. It's extremely clean with 54k miles. I'm looking for advise on what needs to happen such as removing the gas tank to remove old gas etc.. All help is appreciated.

Welcome David. 10 years in a garage.....wow. I would change the timing belt immediately so you don't have a bunch of bent valves from an old belt snapping, that would be more than the car is worth to repair. It's not that hard but looks like it is. I just did my 90 GSX not long ago and it was easier than I thought but I have timed these motors many many times, just not while in the car. It wasn't tough. Look for a drain plug on the gas tank, I think my son spotted one on my 90 when it was on the lift during a fuel pump change. Other than fresh fuel, do filters, belts and hoses.....all maintenance items first since they are OLD.
Glad to have you as part of the group!

I actually own a 90 Laser RS also, its just not in my photos. Been on the back burner for a while since I am doing my AWD cars right now. Nice car though. Needs a TIMING BELT AND A HEAD.

It is in such nice shape, do the maintenance on it and keep her! She is super clean. :thumb:
And you will love the front wheel drive turbo, its fun!

In your opinion, is the car worth the money to fix or should I sell or part out?

That's really a question only you can answer. Since you just got the car then I assume there's no sentimental value to you. Monetary value isn't all that great even in the great condition it is in. However, if you're like most car guys then monetary value is not something that we care too much about. All the money we put into our cars is never going to be returned in monetary value, but we enjoy the hell out of them regardless. That Laser is in such good condition, if it were mine, I'd do the maintenance stuff, leave it stock, and use as a daily driver.
