I'm finally going to get a GSX, but the car has been sitting for about 2 years.
If is pretty cold outside and has been below freezing for at least a month.
Is there any thing that might help me to get it started easily?
I'm going to bring a good warm battery, some fresh gas and possibly a bottle of heat.
I don't have to drive it but about 4 miles to get it home and do proper maintenance.
The car supposedly has a bad head gasket but still runs and drives, with a bad idle.
So after work today I'm going to get it and I got to get it started one way or another.

fuel system cleaner... and some oil in case its low... anti freeze too of course. maybe new spark plugs incase the ones in it are really old or fouled out from the blown HG

I recently got one that was settin for years. Changed oil and spark plugs, and replaced the battery and so far has been the most reliable dsm I've had. Your on the right track with fresh gas and dry gas. Id say change the plugs for sure since the head gasket is blown.

Post some pic's of your new score I'd like to see it no doubt.

Well it turns out that the car was moved into the backyard and I won't be able to get until summer!
I was ready to go and start digging a path in the snow, but the owner of the house doesn't want the yard messed up.
So now I wait until spring, I've already been waiting 2 years so a couple more months is ok..
Thanks for the replies guys.

did you try telling him the yards frozen and it would be fine? LOL

Great advice. I'm dropping a '92 6bolt into my '90 because I blew a headgasket and I don't have funds to replace it. The motor has sat for a few years though, so I'm glad I stumbled on this thread.

My gst sat in a garage for 2 years while I was in Okinawa. When I came home I changed the oil, installed a new battery, and fired it right up. I drove it easy while I ran the old gas through it. No problems.

My GSX has been sitting in the garage for more than 4 years and now Im thinking about selling her. :(

Well this car has been sitting out side, in severe Alaskan winters for 2 years.
If it had been in a garage it would be a lot different!! LOL
Thanks for all the replies, hopefully this spring I'll be able to go get it at the same price. :)
Believe me I tried to convince him I wouldn't hurt his yard!

I'll help dig it out if you need some help.

Just be prepared for suspension shit to break. I bought my car and it was stored inside for less than 2 years and it needs all 4 wheel bearings, bushings, and shocks.

I sent the turbo off for a rebuild.
When I was revving up the motor it was making a horrible grinding sound!
But after I sent it off, I noticed the inspection cover for the flywheel clutch was hanging in shreds.
So that might have been what was making the noise.
Either way I'll have a rebuilt turbo!
When I get the turbo back, I've got to double check that the timing is right and get a fuel pressure solenoid.
After that maybe, I'll finally be able to drive it.
It is an AWD
