Ok so for the last few days my car has been making a rpm-dependent ticking noise. I removed each of the spark plugs one at a time and the noise was still there so I thought it was just the lifters.

The car was running fine earlier today. However, when I go to drive to a friend's house, the clutch just sticks to the floor. It raises just a bit, but stays there unless I pull it up myself. I'm freaking out here because I know this could be CW.

From my limited knowledge I know I should "bleed" the clutch cylinders or something like that. Does anyone have a link that shows how to do this? I don't even know what bleed means....

PLEASE TELL ME THIS ISN"T CW!!! I'm dead if it is.

clutch slave cylinder is about to go...same thing happened to me before it stayed on the ground till i replaced it....

Lift up your floor mat and carpet and see if clutch fluid is leaking down your fire wall. If so replace the clutch master cylinder. Mine went from being perfect to having no fluid in a matter of days.....and bad thing is you can't see it leaking untill you pull back the drivers side floor mat and carpet.

Underneath the mat it's soaked, it's greasy so I assume it's brake fluid. Does this mean it's definitely the slave cylinder? How much would a shop charge to change both the master and the slave? ball-park figure?

So there's no chance it's crankwalk, since it leaked? I hope so

I agree with the master cyl going, could be slave, or the clutch lines either way replace them all. These cars are pushing 10 years old now, the seals and rubber hoses are falling apart from use and age.

I would suggest replacing master and slave cyl and getting a 2g "long" SS clutch line. Total cost shouldnt be much more then $160USD if you do the work your self. Trust me you will notice the difference when you drive with a SS line vs the stock rubber pos that has that big ass anti-shock chamber thingy on it.

Its an easy job even for a novice mechanic(dsm owner), you should be able to do it your self with normal tools in 2-3 hours.

Just replace the master cylinder. I did mine but you need some decent tools to do it (10mm flare nut wrench). The master cylinder does not cost much....and labour should be around an hour. I would get the dealer to do it if you at all unsure of what to do.

I'm having it towed to a shop right now. Where I'm at right now there are NO tools. I mean, not even a wrench or a damn screwdriver. How much would the labor be? ballpark figure of course. I hope not too much.

All depends if you are going to a dealer or a private garage. Can't really tell you either way. I can this it's $85/hr at the dealer here or lower at a private garage, maybe $65/hr to as low as $45/hr. All canadian of course.

Do NOT just replace ONE of them, it simply doesn't work for some reason. If you replace JUST the slave cylinder, I almost guarentee you will be back in the shop within two days cause the master cylinder took a dump on you.

Why fix it if it isn't broke. I replaced my master cylinder because it was clearly leaking down the inside of the firewall under my carpet. The reservoir was empty.....no fluid no clutch pedal pressure. It had nothing to do with the slave at all.

It was empty because it leaked out the slave cylinder. It's going to leak again if you don't replace it.

In post #4 he clearly states that there is fluid under his carpet and floor mats, this is not a slave problem this a master cylinder problem. Untill he says "oh by the way, there is also a puddle of fluid under the slave cylinder" I suggest he stick to repairing what is broke.
