Unknown Sensor, function, other unknown hose and filter

Wasn't sure if to post here or in the electrical tech, found out what the sensor on the intake manifold was but not sure of the other sensor. Just bought a 96 Talon TSi AWD for $750. Needs a new oil pump, had the top of the motor apart and everything looks good. Apart from needing a cleaning up under the hood, there is a sensor that I couldn't find out what it does. I assume its some kind of aftermarket for the intake manifold sensor, just not sure. Its the sensor labeled 1 in the picture, has the same connection as the intake sensor, this also has a vacuum line running from the bottom of the intake manifold to a t-splitter running to the boost gauge and then into this sensor. Any help would be appreciated, this is my first turbo DSM, trying to get this thing going by end of august(shouldn't have any problems other than money). The filter thing labeled three comes from the top of the valve cover and runs down to the back of the motor somewhere, not sure what they were thinking when they did that, any insight on that would be appreciated as well. Everything else seems stock to me also. Second pic shows the filter thing a little better although my phone cam sucked at the time, third pic is of the whole engine bay.

1. Must be a after market map senor 2. Mdp sensor or manifold diff pressure like a map sensor in a way but doesn't allow for any useful data when tuning that's what a map sensor is good for. 3. Looks to be a Home Depot brew catch can off the Pcv valve, I would remove this and run the Pcv without it. Also run a vac line off the other valve cover nipple and to the turbo inlet, it helps with crankcase pressure. I would also get the spark plug wires placed alittle better that one is awfully close to the intake cam gear, that could be bad news if it somehow got caught by the timing belt, I'm sure its fine just looks sketchy to me. Should be a fun car once you get everything fixed.

The item that you have labeled #3 is a filter that someone put inline to try to catch oil vapor before it made it to the intake and contaminated the intake with oil. I'm not to sure about the sensor with the vac line on it.

Thanks for the info, very excited to get this going. If I had the tools and know how to pull the motor myself, it would be running already. Really appreciate the help. The wires are going to be replaced and I have ordered a clear cam cover to keep that from getting caught up in there.

DSMkaui is right on.

I would take that filter off and use that on my air compressor in the garage. Maybe start with setting it up like stock. Calan has a very nice write up on the pcv system. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/366890-4g63t-pcv-system.html

I am betting that maybe it pushes oil and that is why they put the filter on there. Blow by? But then again it may be pushing oil only because it doesn't have a vacuum to pull out the crank case pressure. Hook the nipple (the one on the passenger side) of the VC to the turbo intake snorkel.
