Underdrive pulleys [ merged 1/6/07]

I found a garage with a lift. All I had to do is remove the front left wheel and the splash guard. Nothing else. It's a pretty noticeable difference. I've notice that my turbo is spooling up a little bit faster now. If you haven't done this yet, then I suggest you do so! It's a cheap mod if you just buy the part from ebay and it's well worth the 2 hours it'll take to install it! Thanks for your help guys:dsm:

That happened to me about a month ago. What a friggen headache.

when mine broke, it sounded like a bearing going bad, i thought it was my a/c compressor. ONe day i'm on my way to work, *SNAP* *POW* and that horrible burning smell. Low and behold, my a/c belt snapped, got sucked into my timing belt cover, and jammed my crank pulley. It also shredded my alternator belt.

That was a PITA to fix, because i had no idea what was wrong when it happened.

I got one of the cheapies off of ebay, no dampner. So far so good...knock on wood. Easy install...hardest part was changing the belts. I didn't notice a huge difference, but the engine seems to rev a little quicker and smoother. For $50, I'm not complaining.

wait, is this with or without the udp?

That's with the UDP. Do you think the engineers put it on there for kicks? Install one and you cut the life expectancy of your engine down.

Dangerous mod that's not worth it.

Go buy a new one and install it. It's worth the $100.

wait, so im confused... do you recommend it or not?!

The harmonic dampner does what is says, it dampens harmonics. Torsional harmonics in the crankshaft.

The 4G63 is externally balanced. The part that makes it externally balanced is the flywheel, not the harmonic dampner.

There are engines out there that are internally balanced and have a neutral flywheel.

Okay, now the problems are showing up. This morning on the way to work, my car started sputtering from the engine. When I got to work, I thought.......hmmm, I'll try to start my car up again and see if everything's okay. It wouldn't start. I popped the hood to find that the alternator belt is no longer there. So now I'm trying to find the belt number for the replacement. I know that it's a little bit smaller than the stock belt. If anyone can help, that would be great! Any input is gladly accepted.

I really want a set of Underdrive Pulleys and i cant seem to find any for my engine the 420A engine 96 eclipse. I found a crank from Unorthodox Racing but thats it. they have plenty of kits for the GST though and i was wondering if i used the power steering pulley or the alternator pulley off the GST kit would it work for mine.
