have you talked to people that have used underdrive pulleys? i was talking to a guy at a local shop and he suggested staying away from them because your alternator won't produce enough power to run all of your accessories. i was considering the lightened pulleys from machv... but i decided the gains weren't worth the risk of potential damage

Im not sure but i did read that in the summery about the AEM pulleys. but i dont think they make them for our 2nd gens. if anything i could just get the crank pulley and i suppose that wouldnt affect the alt or water pump in any way.

I have seen UDPs for both models of 2Gs. There is no risk envolved, just have it professionally installed.

Make sure the crank pulley has a damper on it like this- http://www.machv.com/busracunpul.html

errr....mmmk i wonder if thats worth 350. and if its better than OEM and lighter. they are real skippy on the details eh?

and how do u "professionally" install them? Lol u just unbolt them, take the OEM off, and bolt the AM back on.

Take it to somebody that knows how to do it and has the right equipment, that is what I meant.

I installed one of the underdrive crank pulleys on my car a few weeks ago, and drove the car maybe 3 times max of 10 miles since then. Parked it for a week,Went to start the car up battery is dead, I jumped it and drove it around for a good 15 mins, then parked it. 2 days later went to start it up and the battery is dead again WTF. Battery is fairly new on a few months old. All the belts are tight no squeaky squeaky. I did however notice the lights are dim unless i hit the gas.

I guess the only way to find out is to get me a voltometer and check it out, but if yall have similar problems maybe some opinions would get me thinking. i think the UDP is underdriving things so much Im not charging fast enough on my draw

Will I have to pull the engine to do this or lift it? Or can I just do it in my parking lot, standing over the car?

find someone with a garage who will help you :)

Thanks for the help guys........I'm looking for a garage now. Just one more question, though.......for anyone who's already done the UDP, how much of an increase in HP is it??:dsm:

The HP gain is minimal and unnoticeable for the most part. Don't do it if you're only doing it for HP gain. If you're gonna do it, do it because you're concerned that the 2-piece stock pulley may separate on you one day.

sorry to jack the thread, but does it also speed up your revvs like a lightened flywheel does? thats bad phrasing, but you know what i mean.
