I am in the process of cleaning up my engine bay. I have a pretty 'rigged' set up or my GM MAF and I am wanting to switch to a SD setup. I am wanting some suggestions of the best route to go with this as I am a little unsure. I have a few issues as well that I would like to address. This will help me determine the best pipe configuration.

Should I replace my throttlebody? Currently under a cold start it will sputter and die, especially when the weather is below zero Celsius. I dont think its my ISC, its a revised version, and its correctly configured via ECMLINK. It idles perfectly once its warmed up. FIAV maybe? Also it will idle high for a few minutes after a hot start as well and then idle fine after a minute or two. I was considering a S90. I have an evo III intake mani, so how much porting would it require, and would I have to take it off to match it? I currently have a 57mm bored 2g from throttlebodies.com. Would it make much of a difference in for my current set up?

As you can see from the picture, I have 3 couplers between my TB and IC. I had to do this because it was the only way i could keep my GM MAF with the VSRF kit and it to line up. Its a disaster, I know and this is why I wanted to replace it. Not to mention I get a pretty rough measurement from my GM MAF on ECMLINK, I was hoping going to SD would solve this.

My last question is what configuration should I place my meth nozzle and IAT? When i get the pipes made (probably from ETS or MAP) I am going to get them to weld in 2 bungs.

So if I keep my current TB or get a S90, that will determine what pipe setup I will need.

Any suggestions or experience would be greatly appreciated.

I think its a 70mm. But with the bored out 2g TB I have now, would switching to a 1G be worth it at all? I was just thinking I could kill a few things at once by swapping both my UICP & TB at once while making the SD switch.

The only problem I see is that the evo 3 intake manifold is 60mm as well..Unless your plan was to port that as well when you installed the 70mm tb..But if your plan was to port the intake manifold I see now problem..WEll I guess I still see one problem, price..You can get a used 1g tb for 50 shipped..I have no idea what the 70 mm price is but i'm sure its not 50 shipped..There is one more option on the 1g tb tho..Snowboarder714 Sells throttle bodies that have been all cleaned up, glass beaded, and rebuilt..There not 50 shipped I'm sure, but they are basically brand new..

I suppose the other question is, can an EVO III manifold be ported to 70mm?

This is the TB I have now:

57mm 2G Turbo Eclipse Throttle Body | eBay

This would be the 1G version:

63mm Throttle Body 1G DSM Eclipse/Talon | eBay

So the difference between the 2 is ~5mm. I could also send mine in for a servicing but considering I live in Canada it would be a months worth of downtime. I could recoup a bit of the s90 cost by selling my current TB. So I think I would be okay with that. I am just curious to see if there would be much of a performance gain by jumping to the S90 that would be worth the $$$.

And please tell me the reason you think you need a 70mm throttle body. Just go with a 1g throttle body as it'll support what you plan on throwing at it. 60mm is just shy of 2.5". With a 70mm throttle body (2.76"), running a 2.5" upper intercooler pipe wouldn't be ideal, and I'm positive you don't need a 3" pipe.

Bud, the 60mm intake opening is only true if it's an actual Evo 3 intake manifold. If it's an RVR (looks exactly like Evo 3) then it's 52mm.

I'm pretty sure its an EVO III. It has no provision for an EGR, no port for the top for the MDP sensor and 2 extra nipples on the driver side. I can take a picture to make sure if you think it isn't.

That was the answer I was looking for, if it wont make any difference then I will just make the swap to the 1G. Is there anything special I need to make the switch?

As for the IAT and METH bungs. Where should I place them in relation to the BOV flange?

Alright since you have to show my up I have to ask..What the hell is a RVR..

And that's also what I just said...The evo 3 is a 60mm opening..

Ohh and Dion, the link you gave me were modded tb's not exactly stock..That's why it said 63mm, and not 60..But I'm sure if you ordered one from brian he could probably port it to 63

An RVR is 4G63T AWD family fun!

Nope, nothing special. Just some 1g throttle body gaskets. Your ISC and TPS will swap over.

They both need to be between the BOV and throttle body. As to which first, do some searching around here and see what people prefer.

Really Japan..Man that's a downer..I got really excited there for a minute..

Sorry to be off topic, but you can put a 4g63T in an AWD Summit or Colt Wagon. The top mount IC might be hard to source, but who wants that anyway?
