Types of Aluminum

What type of aluminum can i use to make a 90 degree bend to weld onto my catchcan. I know not all aluminum can be bent without cracking.

It might be easier to make a gradual bend in aluminum. A sharp bend is too easy to break. Sometimes I'll make two 45 degree bends close together if there's room. If you need to make a sharp bend, heat it with a propane torch first and test it by applying pressure to see if it's hot enough to bend easily. Another option is to get pre bent aluminum 'angle iron'.

5052 is and aircraft/ military grade aluminum that bends very well and resists cracking. You can bend it pretty far before it cracks. It welds nice too. 6061 will crack if you aren't carefull.
