Turbo will not build up boost or kick in at all

Hi Guys,
I am helping out a friend with his car problem. He has a stock 95 gsx and is having a very bizarre problem with his turbo or something else that causes not to function. Basically, the problem is for some unknown reasons his turbo won't kick in at all, and it doesn't matter how fast he drives or high his engine's rpm is. We checked the turbo for shaft plays, but couldn't find any signs of it. The car runs fine with the exception that the turbo will not build up boost or kick in.

Do a boost leak check. Also, check for exhaust leaks before the turbo, specifically the header-manifold and gasket, as well as the manifold-turbo area and gasket.

or hes trying to hide the fact that its happening to his car....his "friend" has a 95 gsx...he has a 95 tsi awd...same car ...

either way...doesnt matter. point is...do a boost leak test!

I would like to know if "your friend" has a boost gauge and what psi are you...I mean "your friend" seeing?

Also, make sure your friend checks that wastegate actuator arm is still infact on the wastegate flapper lever. If it is, take it off and move flapper lever by hand to make sure it's moving freely.

If the car drives smooth and has no visible drivability issues (aside from lack of boost), then chances are wastegate is stock open.

That, of course, only holds true if car truly develops no boost. If there is boost, but no power, then it's a whole another beast.
