I'm clearing out my garage of a bunch of parts. I have a non-turbo 2.0L engine apart that I'm getting rid of. Is there a difference between the non-turbo and turbo cams in regards to the life and duration?

Thanks in advance.

Yes.

...are you trying to figure out if you have turbo cams or non turbo cams? the sprocket ridges are on opposite sides (reversed)

i assume you mean lift and duration as well, not life and duration, right?

They came off of a non-turbo 2.0L engine.

The sprocket lines up the same way that the ones in my turbo engine do rather than reversed as you said. I'm selling them separate from the head. I'm wondering if the actual cams (not sprockets) have the same lift and duration as seen on a stock turbo 2.0L engine 1G that is.

Edit: Even checked them with the Crowers I have on my second engine. The cam pin and sprocket notch match up. Still interested in info regards to the lift and duration if different between the non-turbo and turbo cams.

Sorry. My confusion. i thought you were talking about the 2G.

On a side not you would be correct about the cam sprocket grooves. i'm not talking about the sprockets, just the end of the cam where the sprocket goes.

But that doesn't matter, i am not sure about on the 1G. i would assume that they would be the same though. Hmmm. got me thinking too now. Now i'd like to know the definitive answer too LOL.

There is a N/T 4g63, and there are lift and duration differences.

This is the info I'm looking for. I don't want to misrepresent the cams when selling them. The cams in question came from a stock N/T 4G63.

That's where I was wondering. Part of me wants to think that the cams are the same between both N/T and turbo 1g engines and that the only difference comes with the compression ratio and timing. That is where I'm coming from.

Mitchell shows a .010" smaller lobe height on the Turbo with M/T intake vs the Non-Turbo/Turbo A/T cam.

.010" larger lobe height on the Turbo with M/T exhaust vs the Non-Turbo/Turbo A/T cam.

In other words, if you own a Non-Turbo car or an Automatic with a Turbo, you have the same camshafts. A Turbo car with a manual transmission has slightly different camshafts.

1g turbo A/T and 1g N/A are 240 or some like that
1g turbo M/T and 2g Tutbo A/T and M/t are 252
AMG 6g VR4 and some 94 galant GS have "G" stamped cams with 260 intake and 264 exhaust
