Well first off let me say this is a future project, I dont plan on wasting my money on this till after I finish my speed mods and what not.

So what I want to know is if the 97-99 eclipse turbo spoiler will fit onto my 96 eagle talon?

Also I would like to know the degree of difficulty in taking off my spoiler?

Taking the spoiler off isn't hard at all, shouldn't take too long. That spoiler will fit but you will have to get new holes drilled and your old holes from you spoiler filled. I have though about this as well and decided that it would be easier to completely switch hatches. That way you don't have to worry about filling/drilling holes.

I've also thought about doing this myself, and I think it should be easy enough. If you have a welder yourself, or know a buddy that does, you can get the holes plugged, and then grind the excess down and paint it. Obviously not for the feint of heart, but easy enough.

I live in Iowa where it gets very cold in the winters and I was wondering if a turbo spoiler made of fiberglass would hold up and not crack. What do you guys think? The stock ones are made of plastic correct? The fiberglass ones are much cheeper obviously so this is why would like to go down this route.

Anybody have any luck with the ebay fitment?

The fiberglass will hold up fine, there's nothing to worry about. As for as fitment I don't think it should be a problem but I'm not positive cause I've never bought anything from that seller. As far as mouting the wing, there are 4 bolts used to mount the wing to the hatch. And when you remove that plastic trim from under the hatch there are the indentations there for where to bore the holes. I actually did this couple weeks ago. Piece of cake.

The factory wings are definitely not plastic, I actually think they're fiberglass too but I'm not sure.

Fitment? You have a talon.... So your car doesn't have the Turbo wing holes already drilled... You drill the holes. However, its quite easy, Pull off the plastic peice on the bottom side of your hatch. Look around... you should notice some area's that look like they were supposed to be drilled out, but weren't. Don't drill them... wait till you get the wing. Because our hatches were designed for both non turbo, and turbo wing. I've installed a few of these wings on customer cars. You never get a perfect drill... so you have to manipulate a tad... just by either opening up the hole a little more, or bending the wing just a hair to pull it into the hole you drilled out.

Also, the regular 10mm bolts that our cars take, is the bolt that should be used. You can find these all over the car.

One more thing, Boosted is right. The stock wings are fiberglass. The one that came on my car was really beaten up. And you could see the fiberglass all over it.

I bought a fiberglass spoiler from a guy by me that had it painted and never installed it. The wing came with these little plastic strips that had a small cylinder shape in the middle. The nice thing about these was that you inserted the small cylinder shaped part into the bolt holes on the wing while you rest the wing on your car. This way, you find exactly where you thing your wing should sit. Then, the 4 plastic pieces will be sticking out from under the wing and you simply tape them to your car and pull the wing off. The small plastic cylinder things that were in the holes are no located exactly where you need to drill. So get a small bit at first and drill down into the center of the cylinder thing. There you go! 4 perfectly located holes!

P.S. Be careful that when you drill through your hatch, do not drill into the shock that hold the hatch up. I didn't get all the way through, but did make a good little mark on it!

Uhm, did you not read? ALL DSM's are setup with the holes set. If you look under your trunk, the holes are set waiting to be drilled out. If you get ahold of a Wingless Hatch, there are alot of area's that are indented, but not drilled out... There are 4, two by the shock's... two on the inside in a hole, you drill, and bolt up. Its not that hard. I'd rather use the pre drilled indentions on the hatch, you can't go wrong on placement that way. Weather you get perfect holes or not... the placement is perfect.

That's assuming that the holes on the wing you buy are designed to be bolted up to a stock car. If not then drilling those holes may be totally useless. I always drill out according to the part, and not per the factory marks.

I've installed a few of the ebay turbo wings, they are stock fitting. All OEM. The one that was on my car in this picture are one of those ebay wings.

It should, because they used the same parts on our cars that they did the eclipses. Why you getting rid og the thumbnail, i think they look cool, I've always liked teh 97+ front and the 95-96 Talon rear. Just my opnion.

If you mean 95 Eclipse, then yea the hatch does have the indentation where you're supposed to drill.

So if your sure the 95 eclipse has the identions for the turbo wing than I'm sure the talon does. Why were these identions their when the turbo wing wasn't even available till 2 years later. Anyone know?

My 95 hatch is from a Talon not an Eclipse, although I doubt there's a difference between them.

Alright so the mounting holes for the turbo wing and the low rise spoiler are the same then.

Should be. One of my friends swapped from the short one to the whale tail and didnt say anything about having any issues.

I installed a turbo wing on my old 96 Spyder.

I figured out a pretty easy way to get the placement of the mounting holes.

1. Place your wing upside down on your couch/carpet/bed so it doesn't get scratched.

2. Tape paper to the bottom of the wing that rests on the car. Don't go crazy with the tape, 2-3 strips of scotch tape/painters tape will do.

3. Punch holes in the paper where the mounting holes on the wing are.

4. Place wing on your car and position it to where you would like it to sit. (I prefered mine a little further back than what the factory coupes have them positioned.)

5. Undo the tape holding the paper to the wing being careful to keep it in the same postion.

6. Tape paper to your car with scotch/painters tape.

7. Remove wing making sure the paper is secured to the car and doesn't move.

8. You can now drill holes perfectly matched to where they need to be for a flawless install!

9. Do dance of joy

I have a new Spyder now with pics in my gallery. Funny thing is I did not install the wing on it, but the position is identical to where I installed mine.

Notice how the turbo wing effortlessly flows with the black trim of the car. Ahhhhh.... now remember to breath...

Hey everyone, I heard from a few people that putting the high rise turbo spoiler from 97-99 on a 97-99 Spyder wouldn't work but I've seen a few with them on. I was wondering if anyone knew for sure if this could be done without and modification. Thanks alot

you can basically put any spoiler on that youd like. Its just a matter of it looking good, or even right. Ive seen a lot of people putting the turbo wing on the spyder, but it doesnt really look good when the top is down. It doesnt flow with the lines of the car as it does on the coupe. Do a search and youll see pics on here
