I have a 96 talon TSI AWD with the following mods:
Team Rip Engineering Transmission
T-28 running about 20-21 psi
Greddy big FMIC
Turbo XS Blow off valve
Act 2600 clutch
Buschur racing 3 inch exhaust
Dsmlink
Precision 880cc injectors
Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator
Walboro 255lph fuel pump
Manual Boost Controller
Dephi Boost, fuel pressure gauges

I know i am forgetting some, but this is the jist. At about 20-21 psi i put down 263 whp and 300 tq. I am wanting to upgrade to a larger turbo, but im not sure which to look at. My goal is to hit about 350 whp, and comparable torque. My t-28 is internally gated, and i would like to stay internally gated if i could, but i would not be opposed to the idea of putting a 38mm tial wastegate on there. I am also wanting to stay in the less expensive range. Thanks for all the help.

for 350 hp i would recommend you an evo3 16g kit, along with 650 cc injectors, a 190 lph fuel pump, and a safc/safc2 with a good tune. It should more then likely be cheap and get you in your hp goal you are hoping for.

I already have all necessary fuel components and dsmlink. From what i have read, it does not look like the evo3 16g will get me to 350 wheel horsepower.

Is it a Big28 or just a T28?

If it's a FPB28, I'm thinking you need to work on something other than the turbo. You should be able to get more power out of that turbo.

I'd spend a good half hour pondering your mods and updating your profile. You didn't list an exhaust, and that will make a huge difference in what any turbo will be able to do for you (stock exhaust is a big restriction for everything).

Here is my full list of mods: And the turbo is not the big t-28, just the fp t-28
Team Rip Engineering Transmission
T-28 running about 20-21 psi
Greddy big FMIC
Turbo XS Blow off valve
Act 2600 clutch
Buschur racing 3 inch exhaust
Dsmlink
Precision 880cc injectors
Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator
Walboro 255lph fuel pump
Manual Boost Controller
Dephi Boost, fuel pressure gauges

Thanks for all the help so far, and keep the input coming.

Ive been doing research on the Evo 3 big 16g turbo, and it doesnt look like 350whp is attainable with the engine and internals being stock. Do you guys have any ideas of a turbo that could get me to 350whp with the mods that i have now, and not having to upgrade any internals?

Evo 16g 500 or so off a vender the real one not the ebay ching Chang knock off, and install kit should be less then 700.

At 20-25 psi will put you mid 300 al they way up to 500, just depends on mods, and your setup.

What you need is better tunning, because the fp t-28 are pretty good turbos and they are supposed to make more power than the evo3. Evo3's are rated at 390hp, but i know people that have pushed them a little bit more. The fp-t28 spools quicker than evo3 and people have run 11's with it. So look more into it before you spend money for no reason.

My t-28 runs out of juice around 6k rpm. It hits 21 psi by about 3.5k rpm, but drops to about 18-19 by redline. It appears to me that this turbo is at its limit.

Boost is only a small part of things. How much air are you flowing? What's your timing look like? What AFR are you running? Maybe you've maxed out the T28, but it may very well be that more tuning could get you farther.
