I was looking at a FP 88 turbo and I was trying to see if anyone had any insight into this turbo. If this is not a good choice any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What had you leaning towards that turbo in the first place?

What he said.

What are your goals for the car? You should build your car based on what you plan to use it for. Daily driver, weekend warrior, drag queen, etc.

Give us a little more info, and perhaps we can give you a better answer?

My goal is getting 800hp or more

When you get it figured out and have your supporting mods, i suggest going big. F lag, its over rated unless its a DD, then its your choice. I drive my car at most 5k miles a yr, probably less and regret getting anything smaller than a 62mm turbo w 82 t3 hotside. \

but, you are talking 800 hp dude, thats t4 territory pretty much. Look to spend a lot. A whole lot. Top mount t4, big garrett/s400 type turbo is what im thinking for your setup. e85 i s a must or race gas. 2150 injectors. The list is quite extensive for 800whp. Hell, i dont know what it takes honestly. Look in the dyno challenge and see whose running what and what their numbers are. Then copy or go a similar route.

^^ it takes crawling alittle before you get up and run!! O.p. I suggest you do alot of learning and reading about dsm's and get yourself more familiar with your car and current setup. Start by getting ecmlink and learning to tune, then think about upgrades. If you want a 16g you will also need a walbro 190 rewired at minimum (255 would be better) and 850's or bigger injectors (I suggest fic!!). Look at my profile bro and you will see everything it takes to Max a small 16g, which I definetly did with my setup! I was est 340-380hp thru link and put down some very nice numbers for what it was.

Very true, dsm link should be the very first mod after maintenance is done. Im a firm believer in that.

edit: OP, fwiw, there are exactly TEN people listed on the dyno challenge above 800whp. Look what theyre running if you really want to jump outta the gate full blast. Its going to be a brutal learning curve with a few blown engines. But that happens hahaha

Most "economic" way to do this would be to build everything to make your goal of 800 leaving a healthy margin for error. Build a, fuel system, driveline, bottom end and valvetrain for it. Reinforce the chassis, replace all your old mounts/bushings with new solid hardware.

Then pick a smaller turbo.. even a TD06 20g would be a good place to start, and work on getting the most from that you can using the stock manifolds, stock cams and adjustable gears. Both in terms of power and Trap/ET. This will develop skills as a driver and tuner you will find are absolutely necessary to meet such a lofty goal.

So then when the time comes to move on from the 20G you should have designed the system to only need your new turbo, cams, intake/exhaust manifolds, oil/coolant lines followed by any relative tweaks to your upper IC pipes and downpipe/wastegate dumps. Design your setup to do as few things twice as possible. You will still be spending an incredible amount of money but this route will save a relative fortune.

If during this process some one tells you "you don't need XXX part for only a 20G!" Just smile and nod.
