Turbo rebuild kit?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Yes they do. But do it yourself. Its easy! Goto Vfaq.com and follow the instructions. Thats what I did with mine.

You can buy basic TD05H rebuild kits from any turbo shop....you don't need to pay $100 from FP for a kit that isn't factory Mitsu parts.

If you're planning on rebuilding it yourself, use this as a guide:

Rebalancing the turbo isn't necessary unless the wheels have been damaged in some way and are being reused.

If you don't think you're up to doing the rebuild yourself, I've been rebuilding turbos for customers for over 5 years. My pricing isn't much more than the parts kit from FP, and you won't be disappointed with my work.

was it easy to do..and did u balance in urself

Yes. Very easy. Just follow the vfaq or the links above step by step. I dont have a problem using non mitsu parts in my turbo. The oil passages are larger in the kit I used than the ones in the turbo. :thumb:

As stated by jusmx141.In less they are damaged balancing is not necessary.jusmx141 is a good dude.Ive dealt with him when i was rebuilding my turbo so i vouch that you wont be disappointed with his service.I don't think i found anyone that got parts to me so fast and easy,And were great quality in my time of dealing with dsm's.

I personally would get its balance checked. Spinning at 50,000+ RPMs a little unbalance has a dramatic effect.
If you want to throw your money away just for a little bit of reassurance, that's fine. :D

I've played that game before....sending out undamaged rotating parts to be balanced at the time of a rebuild. They came back with hardly ANY correction done, other than a couple light scuffs ground on the backplate of the compressor wheel. At that point I was convinced that rebalancing at the time of a rebuild is something that turbo shops will throw in your face to get you to help pay for their fancy balancing equipment.

There are even shops that will tell you that your wheels do not need rebalanced at the time of a rebuild: Turbo Balancing

It's all in what makes you feel comfortable- but remember that most new MHI turbos you'll buy are only component-balanced, meaning the compressor and turbine are balanced seperately and then assembled with no regard to clock position of the compressor wheel on the shaft. If Mitsu felt a rotating assembly-balance is necessary, it would be done. I've been rebuilding turbos over 5 years using this theory without a single balance-related failure, so there's either some truth to this or I've been unusually lucky. If it's luck, I should start playing the Powerball.
