hey i have been looking around for a couple weeks trying to decide what turbo to run. tell me what you guys think...i basically have all the mods necessary fuel and tuning wise but i unfortunately could not afford head work, which i plan on doing not to far in the future. i was thinking 50 trims or things around that size while keeping lag to the minimum ..but i am open to your opinions. i am building a street car, probably wont run much on track but looking for 350-400 hp
thanks :thumb:

People have done that with a 16g. But, I would personally say a 50 trim would be ideal. Good top end power, and pretty good spool, while capable of making the power you want.

Look at the pte 5031 and the sbr g50. I have the g50, and no problems here.

EDIT: Dont be scared to give me some rep points!!

I agree, x2

Thumbs down on the 20g, by far the only turbo you should be looking at is a bolton hx35.

+1 to that ^

I've had mine for about a year now and am still impressed by it. you'll have to crank the psi's up to at least 23-25 to really see it's potential. i'm running at 30psi's on e85 and making well over 400 hp. it starts to spool up at about 3300 rpms and really comes on around 3500. If you go with the bolt on housing from bullseye it's a pretty straight forward install.
you will not regret this turbo!

u never said how much u trying to spend.

for cheap unbeatable spoolup and great power (i dynoed 310 whp, 346ft/lds)with my evo3 16g

for not so cheep and slower spool but maybe 50-60 more hp get the 50 trim

for deff not so cheap for its measly power output but rock solid turbo get the 20g

quick spoolin bigeer cheap turbos get the holset there all great. pluss like 650 hp bolt on...

for slower spooling big turbos pte has alot of those im gonna get the scm6251 myself...

bulseye etips sick turbos but pricey...i could go on and on but u can never go wrong with a e3 16g if you r fwd, but ig ## awd go with the 50 trim of larger pte turbo or even the holset

i'm also fwd and when I moved up from the e3 16g to the holset it actually helped a little with traction issues. the evo spooled up just to damn quick. "at least for me". with the slower spool of the hx35 it actually helped a bit with traction. don't get me wrong though. if i.m on the highway and going along at 65mph and floor it the tires will still break loose when boost kicks in. :thumb:

The Holset threads on this forum has swayed me big time. I'm switching from an evo 3 b16g to a HX35.
