Just a question i thought i would ask. Don't know if any of you have tried this. I just got done doing a little T3/T4 set-up with internal wastegate and am pushing about 8pds. I used Greddy EMS with some trouble finally and managed to get everything working. My question is, can i just put the oil return line in a coupler fitting, then into the oil pan drain plug hole??? just a thought. unless there will be too much pressure for the return oil to get into the oil pan. Does the return line have to be above a oil level in the oil pan?? thanks

There is no pressure on the drain line...........as for routing the line to the oil pan drain plug? i would get a turbo oil pan.

Just weld a drain plug on the oil pan, i would say about 1" from the bottom and just run the oil line there straight to the turbo. I'm not familiar with 420a's but i haven't seen any turbo oil pans for those. Even if there were it wouldn't be worth it, it is just cheaper to weld a oil plug for the stock pan.

I would keep the oil drain fitting as high as possible in the pan to assure that it's not draining into the bottom of the pan. There is no pressure, so you're relying on gravity to keep the oil from backing up in the turbo's center housing, which will destroy the seals immediately.

On turbo 4G63's, the oil drain is very high in the pan- it's not located in the sump area of the pan at all:

The oil drain line should be free of kinks, and should not drop below the oil pan's fitting at any point.

the hole needs to be higher that the drain plug, if not it will not properly flow, think about it, it would need to push the oil out of the way, its fluid dynamics. It needs to be higher so it can "drain" into the oil pan

I vote, weld on a fitting as high as you can get it.
