I am new to the DSM community and I was hoping someone could help me out! If I am wrong about anything correct me because I want to learn. A week or so ago I picked up a 1995 eclipse g-st. anyways, I replaced the CAS, one ignition coil, water pump, timing belt, changed oil and oil filter. the guy before me replaced the head gasket and clutch too. My car has an injen intake pipe and filter, and EVO III td05 turbo, aftermarket recirculated BOV(I'm not even sure what brand it is!),hard intercooler piping, boost gauge and narrowband gauge. now, here is my first question. does anyone know what that little metal tube coming off the BOV is? (look in pics) then my second question is really important. I have only drove it once so far and when I drove it, It was peaking at like 19-20psi when I hit around 6000-6200 rpm. I'm thinking that is way too high too boost without the right parts to back my motor up. So I'm wondering, what do you guys think my boost should be at that would be considered safe? my motor has 180k on it and I don't wanna start breaking stuff. another problem I am having is I am running lean and sometimes I would hit around 4k in second or third gear and the motor would act like it lost spark for a second. noticed my lights were dimming and by the time I got back to my house my car was practically dead. looked at the alternator fuse and it was blown. remembered I accidentally hit the alternator while doing the water pump job and arced it which is I'm sure why it blew. does the loss of power sound like an alternator problem? I thought that's maybe why It seemed like I was losing spark for a second? Also, any thoughts on why I am running lean? unfortunately, I had to leave back to school four hours away so I couldn't even replace the fuse to see how it runs! I know this is a lot to answer and I thought about making two threads but I thought it would help for you too know all my symptoms. thank you!

So I'm just wondering how do you know that its a knock off turbo? I'm not disagreeing with you I just want to know how you know that? there is also a serial or part number on it so maybe I can track it down to see?

Haha right? Here is the deal I bought this car for 1500 with an extra set of wheels from a guy and it seemed like a good deal. I have had the car for only 2 weeks. I definitely asked why there was a bungee chord under there... His reply was "ohhh mannn thats not stock battery" okay... whatever ill deal with it.... and also ya around the strut tower needs to be fixed. I will definitely be doing that too.

Negative. Your bov hose HAS to be off the manifold because the bov requires vacuum to open and vent

This type of bov has 2 ports on it, so he is actually correct. If you run pressure a pressure with no vacuum line to the bottom port it will open faster.

+1 He is correct. Small nipple on the type s knockoff you have there can be connected to a boost source iirc, but is completely optional. Mine functions perfectly(greddy) without anything connected to that nipple.

Well chances are the turbo is a knock off.Based on the bov being ebay knockoff. The turbo is probably ebay as well.If you post some more pics of turbo. We can be sure. But chanced are, the guy you bought the car from, bought all of his stuff from ebay.

OP...turn your boost down to stock, and go easy on it until you read up and understand whats going on under your hood, what you have, and what you need.
Members in this thread that will boohoo at your "knockoff" BOV have posted elsewhere about how great other knockoff parts are, so take everything with a grain of salt. Nobody here has any idea what your turbo is or not or if its a knockoff, they are all blowing hot air. You will have to post pictures of your turbo serial #'s at the very least, or look them up.

Yes bud, the fact that it was Justin making the first assumption about his turbo does not make your furthering that assumption correct. You are indeed blowing hot air. Help the guy or quit trolling his thread

Numbers on the turbo before jumping to conclusions guys, thats kind of obvious. The bov, def a knockoff.
And i agree, the intake is the part that can be generic and work just fine LOL. I would sell the injen and buy a quality bov.
