Tuning Suggestions

Hello Guys,



New to the Forums (Awesome by the way) and am asking for a little tuning help. Bought this GST from someone and the seller said it needs tuned bad. Setup is B16g, 550,190, SSMIC, AFC II and all supporting mods. Seller said that car is only boosting 15 psi but when I made this run it looked like it was getting close to 17psi. Let me what you guys think. I am new to this tuning world.

Looks like you need to richen it up at 4500 and 5600. Just get the dips in timing out. Make sure your dont have boost leaks.

But overall do you think this looks alright. Should I be seeing a timing advance much sooner?


I guess what I am trying to say is what RPM should timing advance be 15+?
(My thinking is that it should be alot sooner than 5600rpm)

Your timing won't normally start to increase until the engine has passed the point of highest volumetric efficiency, which is right around 4500rpm. But overall, your log looks good.

Hey Thank you guys for your replies. It is greatly appreciated.

So at this point the log and timing looks good.

Now what steps do you guys usually take to increase the psi a couple pounds ( 15 -> 17, 17->19 and so on)?

To take wild guess, do you guys richen the afc 3-4% percent, turn up the boost, record a log and then make corrections from there? or are there other techniques to approaching this?

Im sure there are more professional ways but just slowly increase the boost settings and relog......fix any dips and repeat. You can get an idea of how much boost is possible wiith your fuel setup by searching for what other people run but every car is different.
Good Luck and just take it slow. A wideband s a great help.

Thanks man.

You do not suggest richening up the AFC a couple of percent before increasing the boost setting? Just siding with Caution but I could understand if it were safe if you only doing 1-2psi increments.
