I have curently converted over to an atmosphere b.o.v. and i have everything hooked up i have the GM MAS, the MAF Translator, and i have a Apexi SAFC2 and EVO SCAN....but, my car is running really rich and i dont know what route i should take........

I dont know weather to just find somewhere to get the car tunned as is but, the turbo is makin a nasty sound whenever it would be building more boost.....at low boost levels it sounds perfect but when it gets high in boost in gets real loud and just dosent sounds good......i dont know if this would have anything to do with my car running rich right now cause i havent got it tuned yet or not..........................any suggestions????????

or i dont know to just sell the MAF Translator, Apexi SAFC2 and EVO SCAN and just pay and get ECMLINK.......with the GM MAF translator cable.......

what do ya think??????????????

Did you install only the GM MAS, MAFT, S-AFC, and EvoScan? Nothing else?

If so, I have no idea why you'd suddenly start running rich. Did you make sure the switches and knobs in the MAFT are set for your injectors? Did you zero out all the settings on the S-AFC if you bought it used?

I see you don't have a wideband in your profile so how are you sure it's running really rich?

I love ECMLink but you've already got that laundry list of parts going for ya so why not try to make it work?

None of your listed mods in your profile say anything about a wideband or fuel mods so I'm assuming you have neither. The 4" FP intake is so huge it causes bogus high airflow readings making the ECU think the throttle is still open causing it to add fuel when in reality it should be doing the exact opposite. Try installing the OEM intake and see if it clears things up...

  1. Do you have a WB o2 sensor?
  2. What injectors are you running?
  3. What do your hi/lo throttle settings on the SAFC look like?

no i currently dont have any fuel mods.......i have the front mount intercooler, intake, MBC, 3' downpipe, 3' catback and then the mods for the atmosphere b.o.v.

I know its running rich cause one you can smell it......and i mean the black smoke around the exhaust tip is an easy sign of it running rich..........

am i able to use the stock intake with the atmosphere b.o.v. setup???????
or do i have to do something to be able to use it......i know i will at least need to plug the holes in the stock air intake but what about the stock MAS do i just leave it there or what????

Don't forget to post your hi/lo SAFC settings too please!

Odds are its a combination of your SAFC settings, MAF translator settings, and the FP 4". To plug my recirc fitting on the intake I purchased a 1.5" rubber end cap at a local Home Depot, I'd link you to the site but they don't sell them online I guess. Heres a picture of what it would look like...

It's possible to remove the 2g MAF and just put a filter on the end of the OEM intake like you have done to the FP intake. If you don't feel like taking the MAF off though it won't do anything unless its plugged in.

Sweet, check the wiring on the SAFC and make sure you've got the ORANGE and the PINK wires going where they need to. Check the below wiring instructions, the below wires NEED to be installed exactly as follows...

From the SAFC TO the ECU connector
  • 12V Signal (RED) - Tap into Pin 12 or 25 (RED)
  • Ground 1 (BROWN) - Tap into Pin 13 or 26 (BLACK)
  • Ground 2 (BLACK) - Tap into the same wire (13 or 26) that you did for the BROWN wire coming off the SAFC just further away from the ECU harness. ITS IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO IT FURTHER UP THE WIRE THAN THE BROWN ONE, AT LEAST 1/2" APART.
  • RPM Signal (GREEN) - Tap into Pin 58 (WHITE)
  • Throttle Pos (GRAY) - Tap into Pin 84 (BROWN/RED)
  • Knock Sensor (PURPLE) - Tap into Pin 78 (WHITE)
  • A/F to ECU (PINK) - CUT wire going into Pin 10 (YELLOW/BLUE) appox. 3" from the connector. Then tap this wire into the connector side of the cut wire...
  • A/F to Sensor (ORANGE) - Tap into the harness side of the (YELLOW/BLUE) wire you just cut.

When your tapping into a wire at the ECU be sure to do it a few inches back from the connector. I also recommend soldering/heat shrinking ALL your connections since the last thing you want is a bad signal coming into the ECU when your WOT. Use this 2g ECU pin out diagram of the ECU with wire colors and pin numbers to follow along with the above info I gave you.

Get a wideband.
Double check your wiring and connections
Personally if you're going to run a "piggyback" for tuning. I'd purchase a MAFT Gen2. You can sell the safc and maft and make a profit in doing so.
It has much more features such as "target a/f" where you can punch in your desired a/f and used in conjunction with a wideband, it will dial in the fuel maps for you. It also has the ability to adjust timing to a given degree, logging features, etc

when i said that it was zerod out.....i meant that i dont have any adjustments made..........It works fine......just dnt have any adjustments made to it cause i dont have anything to monitor it with yet(wideband)
