Tuning Question

I'm going to look at a car tomorrow, the guy who is selling it says it has a b16g w/ 550cc's and a 255. He says it runs 25 psi. Stock motor. I asked what he was tuning with and he says he tuned with the gm mas. I didn't think that sounded right. He has a boost gauge and wideband.

I do want the car, low miles and very clean. But this sounds bad, if I bought the car I would not drive it until I got link and lowered the boost some. But would it be okay to buy or is it too risky? Quick answers would be great due to the fact I'm looking at it tomorrow and if I want it ill be buying it tomorrow also.

Actually his exact words were "its dialed in on the mas translator" and I'm pretty sure that the only way you can tune by airflow like that it with SD...

ont know you could get it and have problems,, then what? gm maft yes that works with wideband and tuning device, liknk logger.

Well to me those injectors arein't big enough, he is running way too much boost with not enough supporting mods, and have him do a compression test on it so you can make sure that your gonna get a healthy engine, and if you do decide to buy it for sure turn the boost down for right now and well good luck and hope you like it.

The thing I was worried about wqs he isn't running any type of tuning device not even an safc. He is using the gm mas translator as the tuning device and I didn't know if you could do that. I was sure you couldn't without ecmlink or an safc/loggers.

The MAF-T is a tuning tool, albiet a very crude one. It doesn't do anything that an AFC can't do. Only difference between the two is the MAF-T has less fine tuning capabilities.
