i been having some problems tuning with my wideband. i have a innovate xd-1 wideband kit on my car and it reads between 11.2 - 11.5 at wot and for some reason my manifold and turbo glow orange like if its running lean. it will also do that on half throttle. what is the wideband soppose to read at idle? and what should it read when your just cruising. i have 18g. 550cc. and a fmic.

First of all, please fill out your vehicle profile so that we can better help you. The air/fuel you're running isn't that lean, but we need more information to correctly answer your question. Also, how much boost are you running? Manifold glowing is a normal process under boost or even at cruise, so before we label your condition as lean, get us the missing pieces of the puzzle.

Thanks,

Andy

Keep in mind that 11.5 AFR is good, as long as the gas is good and several other factors (like timing) are in order. For example, here, in Cali, gas is so bad, that it's nearly impossible to supress knock at 11.5 AFR, unless methanol or water injection is used. However, like was said before, glowing exhaust components after a hard run are common and normal. EGT gauge would give you slightly better idea of what's going on.
Another thing to keep in mind, when timing is pulled back too far, some of the ignition process starts taking place inside your exhaust manifold, heating it up abnormally fast. (Rich condition also tends to do that, but judging by your AFR, that's not an issue.

I am also curious as to what the wideband should read at idle and cruising? stoich at 14.7? or richer? thanks

I can't speak for everyone here (again, because Cali gas is a horse-piss), but The best gas mileage I can extract from my car without burning plugs happens with around 14.5-15.3 AFR. That yeilds about 22mpg. I can't improve it any more on this gas. On 92 octane gas, while I was in Oregon, I was able to squize 25mpg and boost much higher too, so make your conclusions.
