about to hit the dyno with the auto.
Is there any diffrence from tuning a 5 speed vs an automatic? ( using dsmlink)

you won't see numbers you're used to. It will skew the curve with the auto. Little bit more to it when you get to tuning the low end/stall stuff. Also, you have to take into account the lack of boost fall off (or spike on some cars) between gears so tuning straight through 1 gear isn't gonna be perfect. Will have to clean it up on some pulls on the street/track

so does the auto need more or less timing in the low end rpm range?

My timing is right on, and with the EVO 3 boost lag isn't that bad. I put my foot down and wait for a second and there it is. As long as I don't take my foot of the gas, I'm always in boost. Plus I have a homade two switch shifter that I can control when I shift. I wrote a tech article on it, but don't think It's approved yet..
