Ok guys question. I stayed away from modifying my DSM for a while. But after almost two years with it, I have already decided its time for a make over LOL.

I have partially bought my fuel system already, really just need a fuel pump and little other stuff. I went ahead and purchases a Garrett T3/T04E 50 trim turbo. .63a/r.

Now the question. What tubular manifold do you guys suggest, or manifold with T3 flange. I really like the DNP and the price is not bad. My favorite is the PUnishment racing, but I would not want to spend $800 on a manifold. What do you guys reccommend?

+1. Just bought this same turbo... Except the Turbonetics Version with the Garrett .63A/R Hotside... I have a SSAutochrome manifold which held my last Turbo just fine... but this new turbo, there is no way. I'm about ready to get rid of it cause I can't afford a manifold th at cost half as much as my car.

What was your last turbo? You are saying the SS autochrome is not suitable for the 50 trim?

DNP is the cheapest reliable tubular T3 manifold if you don't want to pay big money, but if you still want to go tubular I'd recommend JHRacing T3 manifold. It's slightly cheaper at $680 custom made by Jake. However with a 50 trim turbo there is no need to go to pro racing fabricator tubular manifold.

No. Not saying that. Infact I'm not sure if mine is an SS Autochrome. Its very well built... Honestly, and I'm sure I'm gonna get ragged on for this, Because of my issue, I tried stretching it out a little, using my V10 long bed 4x4 ext cab dodge ram, two chains and a light pole... No joke, Ripped the light pole out of the ground, and the manifold didn't budge, bend, or break. I was kinda dissapointed, This all happened today.

Only reason I think its an SS Autochrome manifold, is because I was told its the only one that has wastegate fitment issues, you have to mod or ditch your power steering. And a friend has the same manifold with his hugeeeeeeee T70 and have no fitment issues, he did mod the wastegate flange.

I think if mine is an SS Autochrome, its just a defect. It fits an Ebay style .57trim turbo... Backside of the turbo still hit the block, but manifold sealed just fine. However the Garrett .63AR Hot Side wont fit. So I can't tell you. But if you have the money to throw away, I can't stop you. You could get lucky, you might not. Just spend the proper ammount. I'm either getting my friends manifold and using it, he's used it for two years now with no issues. Or I'm going to sell the turbo and get a PTE 50Trim MHI Flanged. I'm not looking for crazy power, just like 450 or so. Its a street daily driver.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I will end up going with a DNP. Fitment is not an issue, they are P/S compatible and they are really reliable. Just wanted to know if there was any other brands out there I was not aware off that had good manifolds for a good price. Looks like DNP is my best bet for now.

If you're not willing to spend the $800-1k that a good quality tubular manifold costs, I'd recommend the ERL cast stainless manifold. Fitment is great, it won't crack or rust, and it's priced around what a DNP costs.

I would strongly recommend ERL too. It is cast so cracking is less liable and with what I have seen they have engineer it superbly. With wide ports and more equal length tubes leaves the turbo to faster spool and fitment will not be an issue. Plus you still could get in on the group buy.

You have to realize that some setups play a huge role in which manifold it best and I wouldn't necessary put a 50 trim turbo with that flow rate into the race category and needing a tubular.

Thanks for the info guys. That ERL really does look good. However it will almost come out to the same price if bought from the online store it'll be only a few bucks less than the DNP. You guys think the ERL would actually yield better results than the DNP?

With a 50 trim, I don't think you'd see any real difference. I made 479whp on pump on my S258 with the ERL manifold on a bone stock 6 bolt bottom end/head/intake manifold, just has FP2 cams and the usual exhaust/clutch/fuel/engine management stuff.

I would say the ERL, a few people with the big HX40 turbo that is pushing out 69lb/min are using it and it performs superbly. Not to mention the Mitsubishi FP Race cast manifold outflowed the Mitsubishi DNP tubular so cast can outflow DNP and I would not put the DNP as a qualitative race part. Some people overlook that plus it has a more likely chance of cracking for the looks.

so looks like ERL it is. I won't be buying right now, but I wanted to get some good advise before buying and possibly making a mistake and throwing 500+ dollars down the drain. Thanks a lot for the help guys.!! you guys rock!

Another nice benefit of the ERL is the cast material is alot thicker than tubular, so your engine bay temps will be cooler. Here are some pics of my old setup, the one where it's glowing was on the dyno immediately after a pull.

thanks Steve, it looks really nice. I see it has no issues at all with fitment. Looks like we have a winner folks.

ERL looks pretty good, and for that price it's not bad at all. So you goin' with this setup chicken ?
Don't forget you're gonna need slimmer fans with that longer extended manifold, but knowing you i'm sure you already knew that. LOL :tease:

yessir I did. I only have the turbo and injectors so far. so wanted to start getting some advise. Building a setup is a long process. I'm just getting as much knowledge as I can before I start to buy stuff.

True i hear ya chicken. I mean you have owned quite a few DSM so you should be good.
What type injectors did you get ?

Just my two bits, but I have a JHRacing T4 and it is beautiful. Is is a little more but you get what you pay for. (that is a hard sell for dsm guys tho;-) but my gt42 fits with a full size radiator. Plus equal length and Jake is great to deal with.

And it really looks amazing.

It is hard to find good vendors/fabricators for our cars. Jake is a Great one.

thank you for the info, you have a link to this manifold?

Yep, Jake does fine fabrication and I have no doubt that it will work wonders for me when I get my HX52 turbo setup.

can you guys provide links to these last two manifolds? Thanks.

Im not trying to bash anyone but I have had more than one of my good friends that has had problems with sls. The manifold was fine but service was subpar.

Jake, I will personally vouch for. I have had purchased a few things from him and he did everything possible to make everything go smoothly.

Jake has very good customer service.

If you want you can pm me and I could go into more detail.
It may be a day or two as I have a ton of homework due this week.
