So I bought my GSX from a kid who completely neglected it. The paint looked absolutely TERRIBLE. Car looked pink. I spent about 8 hours to get it to where it is now, still isn't perfect, but a lot better than what it was. I'll get it to where it needs to be sooner than later. That paint just absorbed my wax. The more I start to learn about this car, the more I want to save it.

How the car looked when I got it...

It looks like a solid car what kind of wax are you using

Yeah, the body is in good shape for the most part. The paint was just very neglected. I am actually just using liquid turtle wax. T123r i believe is what it is. I experimented with a bunch of different stuff (i flip cars out of my garage for extra cash) and i've had the best luck with this stuff, especially with red and other bright color cars. best part is that the wax is cheap, too. 1/4 of the cost of the high dollar stuff and i get better results.

I would of buffed it with a polishing compound before using the wax. It would of brought out the shine a lot better.

I used meguiars rubbing compound and polish as well as the turtle wax.

I wish it was that easy to restore my car, when I bought it the whole driver side needs paint, but looks like your doing a good job with the wax job so far. Makes the cars paint look almost brand new.

Most paint can be restored as long as there is no peeling or rust. You'd be surprised. I want to get some more pictures up of the car this weekend. Today is the last nice day for the year more than likely out in Ole Kansas and I'm stuck at work. Is the paint peeling on yours? Or just faded?

No needs new paint, the guy I bought it from, somebody had dumped acid on the car melted the paint on most my driver side

wow doesn't look like there's any clear coat left on it in the first 2 pic's, could we get after pics on that? If its not turning out well its probably because the clear coats gone and your just polishing bare paint, which will usually bleed onto what your polishing with.

Can probably use a fresh paint job but it also looks like you brought it back to life a little. Nice job.

I'm just going to make it look as good as I can with what I've got for now. Once I get the car where I want it to be then ill look into paint. I've been thinking about a charcoal color.

It looks improved but it's really hard to tell from the pics. The pre and post wax pics are from different angles and different times in the day (it appears). How about a shot of the drivers side quarter panel like in the before pic?

And you said almost any paint can be restored if there's no peeling or rust, so I have a question. I have a white 2g and the sideskirts are yellowing slightly. I washed, clay bar'd (Meguiar's), and waxed with NuFinish paste and there was no significant improvement. What more can I do? And I don't mean to steal the thread, just PM me, maybe.

No paint situation could have been worse than mine. so so bad. but it looks so much better.

Using 3Ms polishing compounds and a high powered air or electric buffer would make that thing shine like new. Granted the paint job is not single stage, trying to buff would lead to burning existent paint, and taking off paint with its rotation.
