Hey y’all looking for some advise to get the foam glue off of the backing board of the headliner. I already scraped the foam off with a wire brush, but now there is a layer of glue, and I’m not sure if i should use a wire brush head on a grinder, a chemical to lift the glue (worried about melting board) or use sand paper to sand the glue. I have never ran into headliner glue this strong!!

I would avoid liquids. A sanding disk seems like a possibility.
Yeah I’m thinking that is the way to go. I already reinforced the back with fiberglass resin so it’s pretty stiff. I don’t think I’ll break it sanding on it

Did somebody recover that headliner in the past and use extra heavy duty glue? The times I've done headliners I just use like an upholstery brush and all the old glue and bits of foam come right off.

I think so. The board was repaired with duct tape too. I did a more permanent repair with fiberglass, but whatever glue they used is tough to get off.

Maybe a rolloc disk on a weaker drill. Might have better luck. Or just sand it with good old elbow grease.
I could try the rolloc disk… have them at work. But yes worse comes to worse I’ll sand it with sand paper… 🤮
