Hey There,
I thought I would make a "How To" for your 2g window trim. I know I
could have used it this week, so I thought I would help out those who
don't have the cash like I did. I spent less than $20 on all material
(WURTH Satin Black Trim Paint, 150 and 190 Grit Sand Paper, plastice paint sheets for
safety, and Masking Tape).
Very easy but time consuming( 1 days worth of work).

GET WURTH'S PAINT OR DON'T BOTHER PAINTING!!!!

REAR WINDOW TRIM
1st.

Be sure to tape off the edges of the window trim with the masking tape.
Get the tape as close to the trim as you can. You don't want to scratch
you window or paint. In the pic below it doesn't show the window
covered but it was. 20 min

2nd.

Begin to sand trim with the 150 grit sand paper first. This will easily
remove the painted trim. 1hr per rear window

***NOTE*** When sanding, the paint will start of black with paint, then

it will turn white/grayish, and then FINALLY it will turn a dark grey.
Now all chemicals have been removed.

3rd.

When paint is gone use use plastic paint sheets to cover car window,
trunk and doors. Basicaly anything within three feet of painted area.
20 min

4th.

Begin to paint in decent size coats. BUT NOT TOO HEAVY!!! If your not
good at painting try to keep it to light coats. I waited 5 mins in
between painting and I completed 5 coats. 25 to 30 mins

5th.

NOW WHILE BEING VERY CAREFUL. Remove the masking tape around window. If
you rip it off fast you may chip your paint job. I'm anal about things
so before removing Tape I used a razor blade and cut softly around the
trim so that the tape and paint would be fully separated. 10 min

Lower Window Trim for Doors

1st.
Remove Mirror

2nd.

Lower glass window all the way down. On in the inside of the door,
remove the two screws connected to the window trim. I have a scetchy
photo, dont hate.

3rd.

Once two screws are removed pull up on the lower window trim. Start
from the outer-side of the door, its easier.

4th.

Once removed...Begin to sand!!! By now your fingers should ache a bit
from two previous hours of sanding. Lol too bad, Sand the Mother!

5th

Once finished sanding, lay the trim on the gournd face up and begin to
paint. Again, complete 5 coats and wait 5 minutes in between. Let dry
for 1.5hrs to 2 hrs.

6th

Re-Install the trim.

Upper Window Trim for Doors

Just buy new ones! Trust me, if you have a 2g eclipse or talon your

trim will be made of Metal and rubber edges that hang a little. If you

try this process it will look like crap.

Good write-up. The trim looks great! Would you happen to have an idea on price of the top window moldings you mentioned by any chance?
