Okay this is killing me. I have a brand new shiny catback and im trying to get my stock exhaust off. Ive wd40'd the s*** out of them and banged and done pretty much everything. My next idea is borrowing a angler grinder from a friend and going to try that.

what else should i do? help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dude those bolts are there for life! LOL when steel rusts it expands. Time to get a few cut off discs from lowes. Then get some stainless hardware while your at it, it'll last longer. When I do my catback exhaust, I'm going to cut the bolts off the cat, and use the old flange as a pattern on some stainless, and weld new flanges on first before I bolt it up.

You've already identified your two main problems: WD-40 and "banging." Like My1GLaser said, PBlaster is probably a better penetrant than WD-40. Also, banging and hammering on the bolts won't get you anywhere. You need more leverage. Use a 6-point (not 12-point) socket and a two foot length of copper or steel pipe over the handle of your ratchet.

They'll come out... just soak them well with PBlaster several times and increase your leverage.

im just going to cut the whole damn thing off. I have new bolts and hardware, gaskets everything. So it doesnt matter if i keep ANYTHING from the stock exhaust.

I just want the new one on so bad. it looks so sweet:) haha

I know how ya feel man have a shiny 3" downpipe in my room but haven't bought the rest of the exhaust yet to install it. I know when I removed my exhaust to remove the oil pan my bolts were ruined. I had to take the whole exhaust off in one piece instead of just the downpipe. Your best bet is a cut-off wheel and if you are re-using the downpipe then a drill or a good punch to get the remaining bolt pieces out of the flange.

For sure, after expending massive energy they will probably just break,a nd you'd wished you'd just cut them off.LOL

Hate to break it to you, but if you are using PB's blasting fluid, MAP gas, an impact and a cheater bar( 2'-3') and you cant get it off there is something wrong with your approach...

Heat first untill glowing red hot. Let cool down and spray with blasting fluid. Heat again until red hot. Let cool down again but blast with fluid during cool down rather then when cooled.

Impact and go.

In really shitty scenarios I get the bolt glowing red hot, and after I turn off the gas torch(Very important) I use a bottle of canned air. Turn it upside down, and "Frost" the now glowing red bolt. Shit will pop, and crackle but for sure-no two ways about it-it will come loose. You might have to do this 2-3 times, but it will always work!

Good Luck!!
