after using a several different fluids in my transmission, i have found that the fluid itself is whats causing the excessive notchyness. i dont know what was in the trans when i bought the car, because it all leaked out; that stuff worked the best though. ive tried penzoil syncromesh, and it sucked. too thin, i think. right now im running a 75w90 (or there-abouts) gl4 synthetic fluid, and it works much better, but the trans still sticks sometimes. when the fluid has warmed up, the trans gets notchy. when the trans is cool, it shifts like butter in every gear. it did this even with syncromesh. ok, so my question: does anyone know of any gl4 rated fluid thats rated above 90w? like 90w105 or something? it doesnt have to be synthetic, but it needs to be as heavy, when warm, as stock fluid is when cold. anyone heard of such a fluid?
im seriously entertaining getting some 90w140 synthetic fluid for my transmission. is this too thick or not? ive heard of some people running fluid that thick on this site. could running a fluid like that hurt anything?
