Trouble Shooting 1990 1G GSX

Guys

After using the search option to get further clarity, I have decided to ask my first "NEW B" question!
Summary of Incident: Was out driving normally the other day on a road with no signs of large debris. As I exited I heard a loud Pop like something had struck the undercarriage of the vehicle. Nothing happened to the car but my first thought was upper or lower ball joints. I kept driving until I got to the house. I immediately jumped out with a flash light to perform a visual inspection, but I didn’t see anything.
Concern: I am worried after reading some of the post (using the Search function) that something my happen latter when it’s most inconvenient.
Request: Can anyone give me some courses of action to diagnose a possible problem and put my fears to rest?!

Welcome! When you heard the clunk, did you feel anything in the steering wheel, pedals, or floor boards? Does it look like anything is missing or fresh scratch and wear marks? Id look at ball joints, struts, bad body mounts. A loud clunk could be anything. I would jack it up and check it over with basics. Makes sure wheel bearings and all are nice and tight. Check your tie rods and such. If you have anymore info, let us know.

Nothing in the steering, but i did feel the pop in the floor boards. I will put it on the lift and do what you recommended. I will let you guys know what I find! Thanks for the speedy reply!

Check your driver side axle to make sure the bolts didn't back out of the support. Make sure it's tight.

Does it act any diffrently now? Any new knocks, pops, or noises? Does it drive any diffrent when turning left or right, or act diffrent when you hit any hard bumps? Any new vibrations?

Check your transfer case and transmission fluid levels.

So the OP heard a noise, and may or may not have mechanical damage...and your advice is for him to check the fluid levels in his tranny and xfer case?

You post count padding is getting to the point of being ridiculous. On the off chance that you ever revisit these threads, I'll say it again; please stop with the random fluff.
