am looking to change from auto to manual, i was going to post this in myregional forum but no one ever gets on it so i figured i had a better shot of finding someone who could help me here...im located in NC and am looking for someone who could swap out a auto to manual tranny on my 97 gst spyder? anyone around tha could do this

First drain the tranny fluid and Unpluge all electrical from the tranny and mark them some how so you know they were for the auto. Take out your speed sensor, you will want to keep the nutral switch because you can bypass it. After you do that you are goin to need to support the engine. I got a pole and made a steel cable piece to hold the engine. There are three mounts for the tranny that you will need to unbolt, take out both axles, put your floor jack under the tranny and take the under support bar that has the front tranny mount off, after that start unbolting your tranny from the engine and mounts and take out your starter you will have to get the starter from a stick shift eclipse. After you take out the tranny you can start taking out your brake peddle and auto shifter. There will be an indent were you clutch slave will go you will need to cut it out. From there you can start to put the stick shifter in and peddle assembly in. When you put all that stuff in you can start putting in the tranny.

bro i appreciate that i really do but id rather just pay someone to do it, not too good with workin on cars my knowledge base is small and dont have that kind of time to do for myself, i like how ya know what to do tho thats pretty impressive

just think of it as high point or greensboro right on the outskirts of both

dang haha that woulda been sweet, also guys ihave a question...a guy on craigs list has a tranny says its for a 1997 spyder 2.0, doesnt say gst or gs or gsx....but im guessin its not gsx as their arent many but if its a gs tranny will it still work for a gst if its same year?

Well there is no gsx in a spyder at least not factory. There are a few like me who have done (or in my case in the process) the awd swap. A gs spyder is a 2.4 n/a the trans will bolt up but you will need the axles. The 2.4 transmissions are weaker. The other option in the spyders is the gst and its the same as a hard top gst.

well then i guess it was gst engine because its stated it comes from a 2.0 engine...says it for front wheel drive 2.0 so i guess thats right and its for a 97?

I have Transmission for 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse 5 speed 2.0.Transmission has 120000 miles on it.Transmission is in working condition

thats copied whats posted, i called him and he said it was for a 2.0 and i think your telling me the gs are 2.4.....but he claims it was for a N/A eclipse so im kind of confused, is their anyway i can look at it to tell if it willw ork for my car...any identifying things?

any way i can tell?
